White River Junction, Vermont – The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) and Sunrise Greetings are thrilled to announce a creative partnership. Beginning in the summer of 2008, Sunrise Greetings will showcase work from many of the talented CCS cartoonists in a line of greeting cards.

“We are really excited about our collaboration with the CCS. Because of the number of superb artists at the school we’re able to offer a variety of styles on the cards that we think will have great appeal for our consumers,” says Sheila Gerber, Editorial Director for Sunrise Greetings. “We are thrilled to be able to support and encourage this next generation of cartoonists.

“It’s great to be able to give the students the opportunity to earn significant income while at the same time introduce them to an industry that can help support them while they continue to work on their comics and graphic novels,” says Michelle Ollie, CCS Managing Director. Sunrise Greetings was founded as Sunrise Publications in 1974. Three liberal arts graduates saw a market for contemporary social expression products and began printing their own cards in a small garage in the college town of Bloomington, Indiana.

In 1998 the company was purchased by Hallmark Cards, Inc. and became a wholly owned, independent subsidiary of the largest greeting card company in the world.

The Center For Cartoon Studies (CCS), located in the historic village of White River Junction, Vermont, is a dynamic cartooning school and studio that has been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Farmer’s Almanac, and on the front page of The Washington Post.
