It is a great time to study comics! All around the United States at colleges and universities, graphic novel reading courses have popped up in English departments and a few comics making classes are even being offered in some art departments. Student-run comics clubs abound! As part of The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) Academic Outreach program, we want to connect with these classes and clubs and offer our comics expertise, while also identifying students who are passionate about comics and might be a good fit for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and certificate program at CCS after their undergraduate program is complete.
For college and university-level classes (or clubs) we offer many free 30 minute Skype or Google Hangout video sessions. This can be a short lecture on a variety of cartooning topics, a Q&A session with CCS faculty member (all of whom are practicing cartoonists) or even a short demonstration.
